A very warm welcome to all participants of the Asian Logistics, Maritime and Aviation Conference 2023.

The theme of this year’s conference is “Future proofing Supply Chains: Diversification · Decarbonisation · Digitalisation”, which echoes the ongoing recovery and restructuring of the Hong Kong and global economies. It also reflects major trends such as the digitalisation and green transition of global supply chains. The world today is undergoing unprecedented changes, with the transformation of the international landscape and global economy introducing challenges as well as opportunities for Hong Kong. During this two-day conference, I look forward to eminent speakers and guests from home and abroad sharing their wisdom and ideas, which will help to promote regional cooperation in developing the global logistics industry.

Under the auspices of the Central Government and the “One Country, Two Systems” principle, as an international trade centre and important logistics hub in Asia, Hong Kong counts strong support of the Motherland and close connections to the world as its key competitive advantages. With our prime geographical location, well-established transport infrastructure, sound legal system, simple and transparent tax regime and high-calibre professional talent, Hong Kong not only serves as a “super-connector” bridging the Mainland and global markets, but also plays the role of a “super value-adder” for businesses.

The National 14th Five-Year Plan supports Hong Kong to consolidate and enhance its status as an international aviation hub and international maritime centre, and the Report to the 20th National Congress also calls on the city to strengthen its international position in shipping and aviation, providing even greater room for development. These, together with the Belt and Road Initiative and the development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, present tremendous business opportunities. I encourage the local and international logistics, shipping and aviation industries as well as related enterprises to fully capitalise on the opportunities brought by the development of our country and Hong Kong so as to achieve a win-win outcome.

I am grateful to the Hong Kong Trade Development Council for once again organising this event with the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government. I also thank the many supporting organisations, guests and participants for their unwavering commitment to this event. I wish this year’s Asian Logistics, Maritime and Aviation Conference a resounding success and a rewarding experience for everyone involved.
