Welcome to the Asian Logistics, Maritime and Aviation Conference 2022, organised by the Hong Kong SAR Government and Hong Kong Trade Development Council.

We are pleased that ALMAC 2022 is one of the highlights of the Hong Kong SAR Government’s 25th anniversary celebrations this year.

Following the success of last year’s Conference, we will once again conduct this event in hybrid format, offering the dual opportunity to attend in-person in Hong Kong and online to facilitate the participation of our wider global community.

In today’s increasingly globalised world, connectivity is key to the stable development of our economy and society. No sector embodies the idea of interconnectedness more than the logistics, maritime and aviation industries, whose growth depends on the resilience, stability and sustainability of its global supply chains.

As the world recovers, supply chains remain affected by the pandemic, with disruption and delays severely impacting companies and markets. There is an urgent need to manage supply chains differently, so we can weather future challenges. Organisations need to innovate to safeguard continuity of business and sustainable economic growth.

What powers innovation? Collaboration. And better collaboration can boost innovation and ensure a sustainable global supply chain for the future. In today’s turbulent times, we have seen that connectivity and collaboration can enhance innovation.

This is precisely the focus of ALMAC 2022, titled “The Future of the Sustainable Supply Chain: Connectivity ∙ Collaboration ∙ Innovation”. The event will connect logistics, maritime, air freight and supply chain management services providers and users to share insights, explore opportunities to collaborate and find new solutions to build a more sustainable global supply chain for future generations.

We will explore the evolution of global trade and supply chain, and opportunities through supply chain integration in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership. Furthermore, we will look at supply chain sustainability, and meta technologies and innovations to advance smart supply chain development.

Our Plenary Session and Power Dialogues on supply chain transformation and opportunities are complemented by sector-specific sessions to enable service providers and users to engage in more in-depth discussions and give participants practical insights and advice to confront challenges in the supply chain.

This year, the conference is complemented by an exhibition, which can be viewed in person and online, showcasing the latest logistics and supply chain management services and logtech solutions. It will give our participants new insights to enhance their competitiveness and strengthen their business capabilities.

I hope you take this opportunity to exchange views and strengthen connectivity, collaboration and innovation to move the world towards sustainable supply chains.

I would like to thank the Hong Kong Logistics Development Council, Hong Kong Maritime and Port Board, Hong Kong Export Credit Insurance Corporation, Airport Authority Hong Kong, Heng Seng University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong Shippers’ Council, GS1 Hong Kong, Logistics and Supply Chain Multitech R&D Centre and all of our sponsors, speakers, exhibitors and you, our participants, for joining.

I wish you all a rewarding ALMAC 2022.
